When we talk about ecommerce we mean the buying and selling of products via an online shop directly from the company. Trade can be B2B, i.e. business to business, or B2C, i.e. business to consumer.
The positive trend of this way of marketing their products by companies is continuously growing. In 2022, the turnover from sales via ecommerce in Italy was approximately EUR 76 billion, with a positive growth compared to 2021 of the 19%.
Nevertheless, before opening an ecommerce, it is crucial to carefully evaluate all the factors that will be involved in the process. Economic capital, time e human capital are the first three factors to be taken into account. Indeed, in addition to the economic investment required for the design, programming of the website and its sponsorship, it is essential to rely on experts of the industry to ensure the success of the project.

La Ecommerce Italia by Casaleggio Associati monitors the performance of the best online shops on the Italian territory. The large amount of data collected converges in the report Awards, the ranking of the most popular ecommerce sites in Italy, according to the previous year's results.
The selection of online shops is based on the analysis of numerous factors including:
- Relevance of the site;
- Unique visitors;
- Average elapsed time;
- Bounce rate;
- Online popularity.

As far as product sectors are concerned, Italy is present in each of the 17 analysed, with at least one of the companies listed as top ten.
